Fayez Abu Awad is a Policy Director for MENA at the GSMA. Here, he promotes sound public policy and advocates for the Open Gateway framework. Fayez brings a deep understanding of the telecommunications landscape in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). His extensive regional experience spans strategic consulting, technology, market research, and advocacy at corporate and government levels. With a background in engineering and business administration, Fayez brings a blend of technical understanding and market insight to his work.

Fayez has served in regional leadership roles at Boost Communications and NOKIA.  He spearheaded sales, built market intelligence capabilities, and evangelised new services in MEA markets. Fayez is also a cloud solutions architect.

Fayez holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
