Ranjan Banerjee brings over 25 years of extensive experience in the telecom sectors, where he has played a pivotal role in driving business strategy, development, and mergers and acquisitions. As a founding member of Lightstorm, Ranjan has been instrumental in shaping the company's vision and driving its growth across the South and Southeast Asia regions. Under his leadership, Lightstorm has expanded its footprint by entering new markets, establishing partnerships, and spearheading mergers and acquisitions that align with the company's strategic goals.

Before co-founding Lightstorm in 2021, Ranjan held leadership positions at several prominent companies. At MTS India Limited, he served as Chief Strategy Officer, where he led the company’s strategic initiatives, including the $0.9 billion merger between MTS and Reliance Communications. He was also responsible for relaunching MTS India, setting up company-wide systems to improve execution and build a culture of continuous improvement. Prior to MTS, Ranjan headed Strategy & Business Development at Tata Teleservices Ltd., where he led major business model innovations, including partnerships with Virgin Mobile and Future Group, and oversaw the launch of the Photon wireless broadband services. His contributions helped drive the company’s enterprise business to grow fourfold within three years.

Ranjan’s early career included roles in business development at Reliance, where he worked on international projects such as a greenfield refinery in Yemen, and at Chevron, where he was involved in acquisition strategies that doubled the company’s market share in India. His career began with a sales role at Philips India Limited, where he managed operations in one of the largest markets in Eastern India. A graduate of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, where he earned a PGDM in Marketing, Finance, and Strategy, Ranjan also holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University.
